The Discovery Center offers you the perfect way to while sneaking in a bit of science fun. And the best part is, you won't have to travel very far to find it! The Discovery Center brings you Winter Camp , where your kids will have the chance to over winter break. Winter Camp at The Discovery Center lets your kids learn about science and nature through many winter-themed activities.
Come spend your winter break with us! Winter Camp at The Discovery Center is from Dec. 22-24 and Jan. 5-9. 1. How to Study the Weather
Your kids will find out how to study the weather as they unlock the secrets of the water cycle. Cloud charts, snowflakes, and bubbles are just things they'll get to explore. Are you ready to be a meteorologist?
2. Wilderness Survival
Would you know what to do if you were ever lost without a cell phone? Learn some important survival skills to use if you're ever lost or stranded. Your kids will learn about navigation and orientation - and what to do without a cell phone!
3. Animals Under Cover
Many animals develop special adaptations to help them survive the long, cold Winter months. This class teaches your kids about animal hibernation, migration, and winter coat changes. See how these undercover creatures withstand nature's extremes!
4. Science and Cooking
We've all made Christmas cookies and used popcorn to decorate for the holidays, right? Have you ever tried a snowcake or dry icecream? We'll explore the different states of matter as we create some delicious winter treats.
5. Winter Structures
Just how cold is cold? Join us on Building Day to find the answer. Campers will build an igloo and other winter structures to examine the power and strength of Mother Nature. Come make a snowman with us!
