Join Us For Animal Mania!

What's the best way for your kids to learn biology? Do you think they'll get all the information they'll need from a textbook or an overhead projector lesson? Even in the best classrooms, there's nothing better than having nature as your teacher!

Why settle for pictures and charts when your kids can experience the real thing at The Discovery Center? Your kids can study biology up close and personal with animal skeletons, tracks, and skins on display at the park! Our new educator Shannon is working hard to restore many animal models and displays so your kids can see and touch nature like never before.

Saturdays this January, your kids have 5 different animal mania classes to choose from! Pick a special Saturday to learn about the animal lesson of your choice, and use The Discovery Center to compliment what they're already studying in school. For the more adventurous types, just stop by on any Saturday from 12 - 3 p.m. and see which Animal Mania class is going on!

Animal Mania Saturday Science - January 2009

  • Mammals (Jan. 3) - Can you tell what different mammals "do for a living" just by looking at their skeleton? Know exactly what to look for in our class dedicated to mammals.
  • Reptiles and Amphibians (Jan. 10) - Do you know the difference between reptiles and amphibians? It's easy to spot the differences once you've been to our Reptile and Amphibians class!
  • Fish (Jan. 17) - Get hands-on learning at this class dedicated to studying fish as we pass around fish skeletons and talk about their characteristics.
  • Birds (Jan. 24) - Do you know just how much we can learn, just by looking at a bird's beak and feet? What can a bird's wingspan tell us? Come unlock the secrets of your favorite sky voyagers.
  • Invertebrates (Jan. 31) - Join us as we learn the characteristics of invertebrates, and what makes this class of animals so special. We'll be studying earthworms, squid, crabs, spiders, and much more!
